Casa Del Angel Puerto Vallarta

Casa Del Angel is a vacation villa in Mexico, that needed a overhaul of their website. The client wanted a basic informational site that showed off the villa via the images she had. jQuery was used for galleries and BGStretcher plugin.

Friends of Retired Greyhounds

This site is currently down due to the client having hosting issues. You can see some screen shots here Screen Shots. FORG is a non-profit that needed a site overhaul. I developed this template for wordpress. At the time I didn't use a boilerplate and because of that learned more about the structure of Wordpress and got more familiar with Wordpress Codex. They went with wordpress because of the multiple users they intend to have over time.

E-Commerce Site Mobile Spray Technology

This site was developed off a template for OS Commerce and PHP. My job was to modify and add items to their existing template. Integrating a jquery gallery, an articles/blog section, and manipulating the site to function the way they prefered.

Aerial Extremes

This was a test, to see which file types of video worked in which browsers. It was a learning experience and made me appreciate the simplicity of the video tag in HTML5. It is written in HTML5.

Letters to a Young Poet- Book Cover

This is an exercise in typography and layout of a book based on "Letters from a Young Poet" by Rilke. This was used as the book cover.

Typography

Through the use of typography I wanted to highlight exerpts of the book "Letters to a Young Poet" by Rilke. I took pieces and phrases that stood out to me and resonated with me, either as recognizable or inspiring.

Personal Identity Logo

I had the unique opportunity to develop a logo for a fellow student at AI. The goal was to reflect her personality into the logo, and the flow and use of clean lines through the lettering and the use of color really did hit home for her.

CORRP - Client Logo

This logo was developed for a local group involved in the managing our natural resources, trying to strike a balance between recreational land-use today and having the same opportunites and resources in the future.

Conceptual - Stamp Layout

I have no idea what to say about these stamps, but I like them. They are based on the Sami people of Sweden..well actually their nomadic...and don't identify with any particular country. It was not lost on me that I used warm inviting colors and the climate they live in is cold. The imagery was all done in illustrator.

After Effects Video - REI Commercial

I wanted to enrich the REI logo with strong imagery and movement. The use of movement and the music keep the viewer interested. Frankly, it makes me want to get out and do something!

Kinetic Type

Who doesn't like Kinetic Type? I enjoyed creating this piece based on the lyrics of the theme for "Weeds" a Showtime series. The lyrics say a lot when you think about it.

The North Face Ad - After Effects

I had a lot of fun creating this and dealing with the cube and it's movement within the ad. The intention was to use sound and enhance the ad. The challenge for me was the rotation of the sides of the cube and blending that with additional imagery, keeping in mind the music that it was set to.

Center Shift - After Effects

This was an attempt to use multiple layered images to create a soft effect with a strong message. It's about giving yourself a chance.

See that name up above? Yeah that's me. It seems I'm coming around full circle. I started in the art industry, went to construction, and here I am in web design. I can do accounting just as easily as I can paint in watercolor. Just like every other industry that I've worked in, I figure out how to make things work. Sometimes it's an easy solution, sometimes it's a temporary fix. The fact is I try to do things the right way the first time given what I know. If I don't know, I try to find out, either by reading or asking or just beating my head against a wall until I figure it out.

Bottom line is this... life's too short to be doing things you hate doing. Designing web sites is not one of those things. In one sense it's fluid, and in another it's structured and for me that's what makes it interesting. I hope you enjoy the site. I know I enjoyed making it.
